Serious Juggling > Diabolos | |
The diabolo is a traditional Chinese performance prop and folk toy. A string runs between 2 sticks held in the hands, and is used to support and accelerate the spinning diabolo. Once it is up to speed, the diabolo can be thrown all about and made to do all sorts of tricks. Larger, heavier diabolos tend to spin longer and are easier to keep on the string, while lighter, smaller ones work well for high throws.
 All prices include sticks and string that are standard for that model, and a brief instruction sheet is available upon request. The price without sticks can be found by subtracting the price for sticks alone, given below. Tiny diabolos are actually more difficult to use, but are fun for high throws. A medium (diameter: Ø 10 cm) or large (12 cm) is easier for beginners, and heavier diabolos are easier to keep on the string than lighter ones. | |

| Medium Size Diabolos | |
| Diabolos with a Ø diameter from 10 to 12 cm (4 to 4.5 in.) are good for younger students and beginners. In general, a larger diabolo is easier for adults and teenagers, while mediums are popular with most kids age 12 and under. | |
| Flare Gyro diabolo | |

The Flare Gyro diabolo is intended for a young beginner who wants to learn basic skills. The Gyro has a solid brass axle and a smooth spin, making it more than just a toy diabolo. Being a medium size, it is best suited for kids under about age 12, or for classroom teaching. The Gyro has molded plastic cups, and is very durable.

With a medium weight and reduced height (compared to previous Mister Babache Jumbo models), the Finesse stays closer to the diaboloist and is very popular for tricks with 2 or more diabolos at once. The curve of each cup straightens as it approaches the axle for better string catches, and a lip at each edge makes kick ups easier. The Finesse can be adapted with two Evolution Kits (sold separately): an LED light kit, and a wider axle for finger grinds.

The Mister Babache Performer diabolo is a huge oversized diabolo, for those who really want to be seen. It is made from a flexible polymer with a professional quality axle, and can be used for advanced tricks including multiple diabolo work. The extra size and weight of this diabolo are not intended for beginners or for general diabolo practice, but the Performer is preferred by some taller diaboloists and makes any stage routine stand out more clearly.

| This string matches the top brands for roundness and durability, but is presented generically at a discount. Excess stock from large runs is wound onto small spools at the factory, so there is some slight variation in length from spool to spool. The Evolution 4 light kit for the Mister Babache Finesse diabolo turns your diabolo into a dazzling LED light show. Each kit consists of a pair of circuit boards with 3 rechargeable batteries. Each circuit board contains 3 LEDs, each pointing a different direction to provide more visual impact, and to better illuminate the cups of the diabolo. Installation is quick and easy with the included screwdriver, and each circuit board is protected by a clear plastic cover. A charger with adaptor is necessary to recharge light kits, although each is available separately if needed.
