Serious Juggling > Diabolos | |

The diabolo is a traditional Chinese performance prop and folk toy. A string runs between 2 sticks held in the hands, and is used to support and accelerate the spinning diabolo. Once it is up to speed, the diabolo can be thrown all about and made to do all sorts of tricks. Larger, heavier diabolos tend to spin longer and are easier to keep on the string, while lighter, smaller ones work well for high throws.
All prices include sticks and string that are standard for that model, and a brief instruction sheet is available upon request. The price without sticks can be found by subtracting the price for sticks alone, given below. Tiny diabolos are actually more difficult to use, but are fun for high throws. | Medium Size Diabolos | |
| Diabolos with a Ø diameter from 10 to 12 cm (4 to 4.5 in.) are good for younger students and beginners.
In general, a larger diabolo is easier for adults and teenagers, while mediums are popular with most kids age 12 and under. | |

The Mister Babache Medium Harlequin diabolo is a popular smaller version of the famous Jumbo Harlequin diabolo. Made from durable natural rubber, the Medium Harlequin has a solid, dense feel, and keeps its momentum longer than lighter plastic models. Having multicolored patches, the speed of the diabolo can be easily judged, providing valuable feedback for beginners. This is recommended for a young learner (approximately to age 12 or so).

| Duncan Phoenix Diabolo set | |

The Duncan Phoenix diabolo has a one-way bearing axle for super long spin times. A ratcheted axle such as this allows beginners to accelerate the diabolo even with imperfect technique. The Phoenix also gives more advanced diaboloists extra time between accelerations for long trick combinations. Unique to this diabolo is the ability to convert it by hand to a fixed axle diabolo. The Mister Babache Finesse diabolo was designed with the advanced diaboloist in mind. With a medium weight and reduced height (compared to previous Mister Babache Jumbo models), the Finesse stays closer to the diaboloist and is very popular for tricks with 2 or more diabolos at once. The curve of each cup straightens as it approaches the axle for better string catches, and a lip at each edge makes kick ups easier. The Finesse can be adapted with two Evolution Kits (sold separately): an LED light kit, and a wider axle for finger grinds.

The Mister Babache Mini Arlequino diabolo is the smaller cousin to the Medium and Jumbo Harlequins. Made from the same multi-colored rubber, the Mini is about as small as a diabolo can be and still perform well enough to do tricks with such as the high toss. Mixed colors make the speed easier to judge, and dense rubber gives this diabolo a nice weight. Don't plan to learn with this model though - a medium or large sized diabolo is much more stable on the string and easier to start with. The Mini Arlequino is a fun novelty to try, and is reminiscent of the early 1900s, when Europeans began making small conical diabolos after seeing original Chinese versions.

| This string matches the top brands for roundness and durability, but is presented generically at a discount. Excess stock from large runs is wound onto small spools at the factory, so there is some slight variation in length from spool to spool. The Evolution 4 light kit for the Mister Babache Finesse diabolo turns your diabolo into a dazzling LED light show. Each kit consists of a pair of circuit boards with 3 rechargeable batteries. Each circuit board contains 3 LEDs, each pointing a different direction to provide more visual impact, and to better illuminate the cups of the diabolo. Installation is quick and easy with the included screwdriver, and each circuit board is protected by a clear plastic cover. A charger with adaptor is necessary to recharge light kits, although each is available separately if needed.
